We need your help

Running community-based projects requires many hands. There are professional and routine tasks that need to be done weekly, monthly, and during the events. We are looking for reliable, committed people who like getting together to get things done.

What we offer

If you are looking for a job or working a ‘survival job’ in Canada, you can get valuable experience applying your professional skills and knowledge through volunteering while learning about the Canadian work and social environment. We can provide an official letter of recognition from a registered non-profit organization with a detailed description of completed tasks and hours worked. Volunteering is a great value in Canada as it shows your commitment and willingness to work to the benefit of the community.

Volunteer roles

TEAM MEMBERS have predictable, consistent responsibilities and build close working relationships with the Executive. This includes tech support, designers, fundraisers, etc.

COORDINATORS manage volunteers for a specific project. This includes managing food preparation, lining up performances, coordinating events logistics, cleaning crews, etc. Coordinators are busy before and during the events, and they are involved in the planning process and communication with their volunteers.

VOLUNTEERS are the helping hands during the events. They sign up for a specific team lead by a Coordinator. Before the event, they keep in touch with Coordinators and learn about their duties and responsibilities. Important qualities for volunteers include showing up, being kind, and following instructions with enthusiasm!

Training

Before each major event, we will provide opportunities to connect with Coordinators and fellow Volunteers. Coordinators will be responsible for providing more specific training and providing all necessary information about the event.

We support each other by working together to advance Ukrainian culture and building a strong Ukrainian community in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. If you have ideas or concerns, you can always reach out directly to the Executive at eastcoastukrainianfestival@gmail.com
