About

Who we are

The East Coast Ukrainian Association is a registered non-profit organization in Halifax, NS.

We advance Ukrainian cultural presence and contribute to the diversity of Nova Scotia’s cultural landscape through establishing annual cultural events such as the East Coast Ukrainian Festival, Ukrainian Easter Market, and charitable concerts. We bring our community together by providing opportunities to participate in both organizing and attending these events.

The East Coast Ukrainian Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors: Olha Khaperska (President), Stanislav Serebriakov (Vice President), Nadiya Tykhonova (Vice President), Denys Khaperskyy (Treasurer), Alina Bozhko (Secretary), Viktoriia Hrushetska (Member-at-Large), Serhii Kulyk (Member-at-Large), and Olena Hrabovan (Member-at-Large).

We rely on volunteers to run our events, and we always need helping hands! Join us to advance Ukrainian culture and build a strong Ukrainian community in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada.

Our logo

Just as our name, our logo emphasizes our connected identities.

A SAND DOLLAR is often a symbol of coastal life; it also has many symbolical meanings including unity and resilience. BARVINOK (PERIWINKLE) is a well-known flower in Ukraine; it is often a symbol of life, love, and eternity. Combined together, they capture the sprit of what it means to be a Ukrainian on the East Coast.
